Getaways are sometimes the ideal places to form business relationships – and we have a running joke in the YDC office that Emma usually returns from a holiday with a new client. True to form, on a recent trip to Jeffery’s Bay she met Tobias Schroeder, the owner of Surf Lodge South Africa, and sat down to talk about his brand and vision.
Surf Lodge is a humble and incredibly relaxing lodge located on the water’s edge in Jeffrey’s Bay, with a number of luxurious rooms for tourists and foreigners to enjoy during their stay. The lodge offers all of its guests surf lessons on request, as well as the chance to enjoy the South African coastline with their professional surfing instructors. Situated around the corner from some of the top game reserves in South Africa, foreigners are able to combine wildlife viewing, relaxation and surfing in one spot.
Our first project with their team was covering the Jeffery’s Bay Open, where we posted live tweets and Instagram posts from the surfing event. We were up at sunrise to be one of the first brands to report on the day, and really enjoyed keeping up to date with the surf legends and the swell throughout the event.
Moving forward, Yellow Door Collective will be updating the Surf Lodge website copy, managing their social media and implementing a comprehensive PR strategy to get the word out about this awesome accommodation. We have thoroughly enjoyed our work with them so far and cannot wait to develop their brand both locally and internationally.
