Q&A with Janine Langheim
My name is Janine and I'm a people person. When I'm not spending time with my kiddos or my family, you'll find me outdoors soaking in the sunshine. I deal in PR and strategy which are really just fancy words for figuring out what makes people tick and putting that into action.
What is your position in the YDC team?
Freelance/part-time copywriter and PR/Communications consultant
How would you describe your role?
I support the greater YDC team with writing, PR and other strategy work where needed.
When did you start working at YDC?
What part of your job do you enjoy most?
It changes. At the moment most probably writing and editing.
What part of your role do you find the most challenging?
Not being in the office with the rest of the team. You miss out on those 'corridor moments' and informal learning and laughing moments. Working on clients 'in part', not being able to be part of every strategy meeting and having to 'switch on and off' for short bursts of time on clients. I enjoy the diversity but find it challenging nonetheless.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the YDC team?
We have an incredible team, with talented and passionate leaders. I enjoy being part of the company culture and find the type of clients we choose to work with really interesting and fun.
What specific project/ campaign did you/ do you enjoy working on most?
@home and Petit Love
What do you do when you’re stuck for inspiration?
I read other blogs and articles on similar themes or in the same industry for ideas and fresh inspiration. Or if possible, I pop out for a walk to clear my head and 'reboot' my thinking.
What is your pre-work routine?
I don't work a straight 9-5pm day, but rather an hour here, and two there, with lots of my work happening after hours - therefore my pre-work routine most definitely involves a cup of frothy coffee in my favourite Le Creuset cup.
If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?
Not a big superhero fan, but if I have to choose I wouldn't mind being Superman's Lois Lane! She's still human, with super-powers to her disposal.
What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?
Enjoying nature (preferably the ocean) and good food with my family. Although I like having one or two things planned, I most enjoy an unplanned weekend with space for spontaneous adventures.
What music do you like to listen to while working?
I seldom listen to music while working. Silence or 'white noise' from outside works best for me. But when I do, I opt for favourites like Bon Iver, Ben Howard and Josh Garrels.
Introvert or extrovert?
Cats or dogs?
Dogs (medium-sized, not small).
Shoes or barefoot?
Barefoot or socks.
What’s your favourite spot on Bree Street?
Being a mum of two kiddos under three, I don't get to spend much time in Bree Street anymore. So, my answer will give away that I haven't been there for a while! I really enjoy Jason's, for the best coffee and pastry fix.
