Q&A with Nomso Nwachukwu
Hi, I’m Nomso, and I’m the design and social media intern at Yellow Door Collective. I’m a geek at heart, who loves to take every opportunity to learn something new or a better way of doing things. I wouldn’t consider myself to be very outgoing, but I do seem to make an imposing impression. I tend to be very analytical, but this doesn’t affect my creative and flexible approach to life. I enjoy Anime (subs over dubs), comic books and sci-fi movies.
What is your position in the YDC team?
Design and social media intern
How would you describe your role?
Scheduling blog posts, social media updates, sourcing images, designing artwork, learn and learn.
When did you start working at YDC?
What part of your job do you enjoy most?
Well, I enjoy most parts of my job, but I enjoy the design aspect of my job the most, as it demands creative input, irrespective of the task at hand. Putting into consideration that a re-alignment of an element can actually change the message intended baffles me.
What part of your role do you find the most challenging?
Multitasking. Juggling between tasks has proven to be time consuming.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the YDC team?
The team at Yellow Door has an exciting approach to almost everything, I’m excited to be part the team where there has always been a sense of family. There is a constant source inspiration to work towards meeting our goals together and effectively.
What do you do when you’re stuck for inspiration?
I just take a break and go back to it.
What is your pre-work routine?
Rubik’s cube, reading comic books or eBooks on the bus, no caffeine (maybe when I need some spinach like Popeye)
If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?
Black Panther, he has got the impenetrable armour, most advanced technology to come and he is a prince.
What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?
Indoors with my best friend, watching tutorials, playing video games and watching Anime.
What music do you like to listen to while working?
A hard mix of rock, instrumentals, electro and pop.
Introvert or extrovert?
I consider myself to be introverted, and this does not necessarily mean that I’m the “hermit” who hates the sun and finds social engagement superfluous. Nevertheless, I enjoy good company and find people to be quite interesting.
Cats or dogs?
Shoes or barefoot?
“Shoes or barefoot?” - totally rooting for shoes, “no pain no gain” is not applicable to barefoot.
What’s your favourite spot on Kloof Street?
Domino’s Pizza, I go
in-store to get pizza just to see the staff all bubbly.
