Q&A with Sarah Millward

Sarah joined Yellow Door at the beginning of July 2020, to free up some of our directors’ time so that they can focus on developing the business. She’s friendly, articulate and always up for a new challenge – so it’s an absolute pleasure having her as part of the team.

What is your position at Yellow Door?

I work remotely as a General Assistant.

What part of your job do you enjoy most?

Learning. In the short time I have worked at Yellow Door, I have learnt so much and continue to learn new skills daily.

What part of your role do you find the most challenging?

Prioritising tasks. I like to get everything done as it comes in. This is not always productive.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the Yellow Door team?

Inclusivity. Although I work remotely, I very much feel a part of the team. Everyone is incredibly supportive and positive, it’s so refreshing.

What do you do when you’re stuck for inspiration?

Take a minute and walk my dogs. It always clears my head and leaves me ready to get back into work.

What is your pre-work routine?

We have three dogs that pretty much rule our lives. Our mornings are organising, feeding and playing with them so they are quiet when we need to start our work day. We absolutely adore them.

If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?

Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) – she can fly, burn things with her eyes, is incredibly strong and generally awesome. Need I say more?

What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?

Taking the dogs on a long leisurely walk followed by a braai with great friends and family.

What music do you like to listen to while working?

I actually don’t listen to music whilst I am working. If I did, I would likely be listening to KFM on the radio.

Introvert or extrovert?

I’m a combination, it depends on the situation. My friends would say 100% extrovert, although I am quite shy when meeting new people for the first time.

Cats or dogs?

Dogs ?

Shoes or barefoot?

In winter, shoes; summer, barefoot.

What’s your favourite spot in Gardens?

I am embarrassed to say that I don’t know the area that well as I work remotely! I would go with De Waal Park, or is that Oranjezicht? hehe

Please fill in your details and we will contact you to book your workshop.
