Q&A with Jason Mark

A few months ago we were introduced to Jason Mark, fellow agency owner at Floeo. We instantly clicked and starting working on various web development and video creation projects together. We also brought him and his colleague Amy on to help us with everyday technical queries which has been a great help in streamlining our workflow. Jason is always willing to help and has a wealth of knowledge about all things digital.

What role do you play as part of the Yellow Door team?
Hey my name is Jason and I’m not sure if I’ve been given an official title of any sort at YD (yet) – in any event, I am responsible for helping with WordPress development and motion graphic video creation. I’m also always available on the YD team slack channel to answer any tech questions that the team may have

Which of the Yellow Door values do you resonate most with and why?
Authenticity. Have you ever been on one of those stock photo sites when everyone is holding a clipboard and wearing a hard hat and smiling in a direction, or all looking over each others shoulders looking at a smart phone looking so plastic? Ahhhhhhhhhhh…… I cannot deal with the fakeness. Everyone loves a REAL person and having REAL meaningful chats doing REAL meaningful things in life. So yea, authenticity.

Tell us a bit more about your area of expertise, and why you are passionate about it?
I have a fair deal of experience in the marketing and content creation world. I think it’s amazing how we can use our creativity to create digital works of art that can influence opinions and change the mindsets of the customers to our clients out there. So definitely passionate about the marketing perspective of the digital content I get to create.

What do you find most challenging about this area of marketing?
The biggest (positive) challenge is trying to extract the best brief possible from the client’s heart and mind so that one heads off in the right direction when beginning to create that amazing piece of digital content. With some clients extracting a brief comes easy with some it’s a challenge, it’s a fine art I’m still tweaking.

What are your top three projects or brands that you’ve had the opportunity to work on?
With YD I’ve had to work on some pretty cool projects so far, but, outside of YD I’ve worked with a 1million+ subs YouTuber which was great, Mercedes-Benz on their inhouse digital content and Caltex in the Eastern Cape on their digital marketing content.

What do you do when you’re stuck for inspiration?
I would normally watch YouTube or begin surfing the web, I have a few go to inspiration sites I like to browse or I give some friends in the tech and design space a call just for a chat and from those chats, inspiration normally arises!

What do you do when you’re not working?
You’ll find me spending time with my boys and wife or trackside watching some sort of motorsport. I’m a huge fan of the MotoGP. Some call me a petrol head. 🙂

If you could be any superhero, who would you be?
Hmmmm… probably Ironman. I mean the guy can fly, has a killer house with an amazing selection of cars and bikes in his underground garage. Yea, definitely Ironman.

Please fill in your details and we will contact you to book your workshop.
