Marketing retainers made simple

We’ve just turned six, and part of our birthday celebrations at Yellow Door include strategic planning for the year ahead. It’s been tricky with so many unknowns around COVID-19, but one thing is clear: businesses need a strategic marketing partner more than ever before. And on tighter budgets!

With this in mind, we’re adding to our current offering by creating packages at different price points. Each one can still be tailored and adapted, but they are a great starting point for potential clients to understand what things cost, and what is included at each tier. We’ve costed them in Rands, but can send quotes in GPB, Euros, US$ or AUS$ too.

If a monthly marketing retainer is something you’re considering, the first step is to figure out what type of support you need. Some businesses just want a marketing partner to point them in the right direction and hold them accountable; others need an agency to execute their ideas; or you may want a combination of the two – with strategic input and implementation.

All three retainers include a monthly check in, a website health check, a newsletter and feedback on key statistics such as engagement, traffic directed to your website and conversions, so that you can measure the success of your marketing efforts.

As part of the website health check, we will take a look under the hood of your website and make sure it is running smoothly. It will include the following:

  • Update plugins, themes and the WordPress core
  • Clear any outdated media and plugins not being used
  • Send updated sitemaps to Google Search Console
  • Check all website links and redirect any old links no longer working
  • Improve page speed by compressing images and minifying code
  • Ensure all main pages and blog posts have relevant metadata.

The second package also includes content creation for blog posts, social media and adverts; and if you want the full range of services, the third one also has Google Ads management, SEO and time allocated for design and website changes.

We’ve also listed different add-ons, which we offer in collaboration with other like-minded agencies. For example the Stellar Effect is our go-to creative audio agency (read more about them in Carol’s guest post on our blog or check out our podcast, Life behind the Yellow Door, which they produced) and we partner with Floeo for infographic-style videos. My personal favourite is the half day strategy workshop – and we have a number of different ones which you can read up on in the marketing strategy section of our website.
